Setting Up Your Radio Station: First Broadcast in 6 Steps

This guide takes you from an empty Recupy account to a station that broadcasts on its own. Before starting, it helps to know five concepts:

• Station: your radio. One account can hold several stations, each with its own media, playlists, DJs, stream addresses and statistics.
• Media: your music and audio library.
• Playlist: the rules that decide which songs play and when.
• AutoDJ: the automatic broadcast engine that turns media and playlists into a continuous stream.
• Mount point: the stream address listeners connect to - quality and format are defined here.

The six steps

1. Create your station. Add a new station from the Recupy control panel and enter its name and basic details.
2. Upload media. Open the Media section and upload your music. Organise files into folders (for example Pop, Jingles, Ads) - it makes playlist building much easier.
3. Set up a playlist. Create at least one General Rotation list and assign songs to it.
4. Start AutoDJ. Enable the broadcast engine and confirm the playing status on your station profile page.
5. Define a mount point. Choose the format and bitrate your listeners will receive - 128 kbps MP3 is a good starting balance.
6. Test your stream. Listen through the player on your profile page or directly from the stream address.

Adding a live DJ

Go to Streamer / DJ Accounts in the panel menu and create an account for each host. DJs connect live through the browser-based WebDJ or any third-party broadcast software - and when the live session ends, the system returns to AutoDJ automatically.

If something does not sound right

• No sound or silence: is AutoDJ enabled, does the playlist contain songs, is a mount point defined?
• DJ cannot connect: re-check the DJ account credentials and connection details.
• Quality complaints: review the bitrate and format on your mount point.
